Core Scope Endoscopy presented its Loop Straightener proof of concept at the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) 2026 Congress in Athens, marking an important milestone in the development of its colonoscopy technology platform.
Colonoscopy remains the gold standard for screening, diagnosing and monitoring colorectal diseases, but the procedure can present significant technical challenges for endoscopists and discomfort for patients. One of the most persistent challenges is colonoscope looping, which can make advancement more difficult and increase the physical effort required during the procedure.
Core Scope is developing a new approach to this problem through the Loop Straightener — a single-use adjunct designed to provide additional mechanical control when looping occurs and help reduce recurrent loop formation during colonoscope advancement.
From clinical problem to technology
The Loop Straightener has been developed around a simple principle: improve control of the colonoscope without requiring a new colonoscope or major changes to the existing workflow.
The device is designed to work alongside conventional colonoscopy systems and provide additional mechanical support when loops form. The aim is to help the endoscopist manage looping more effectively while maintaining the familiar procedural approach.
Core Scope’s development programme has progressed from identifying the clinical problem through prototype development and bench proof of concept, with patent protection filed for elements of its technology.
Presented at EAES 2026
The presentation at EAES 2026 provided an opportunity to share the proof-of-concept development with the endoscopic surgery community and demonstrate the potential of the technology.
This milestone forms part of Core Scope’s wider development journey towards clinical evaluation. The company’s technology roadmap also includes AI-enabled solutions focused on colonoscopy navigation and mucosal visualisation.

Colon Mapping — AI-enabled software designed to map mucosal visualisation and identify areas that may not have been adequately inspected.
Path Finder — AI-enabled navigation technology being developed to support orientation and direction of travel during colonoscopy.
Together, these technologies are intended to address three connected challenges within colonoscopy: looping, navigation and mucosal coverage.
Looking ahead
The EAES 2026 presentation represents an important development milestone, but Core Scope’s work continues. The company is progressing through engineering validation, AI dataset development and annotation, design verification and validation, and towards clinical evaluation.
The goal is clear: to develop practical technology that can work alongside existing colonoscopy systems and help improve the procedure for patients, endoscopists and healthcare systems.
